Alex Stamos the Facebook’s Security Chief Revealed Algorithms In Media

Alex Stamos, Facebook’s chief security officer, protected his company against “coverage of our recent issues driven by stereotypes of our employees and attacks against unreal, strawman tech cos.” in a long tweetstorm on Saturday.

Stamos was replying to Lawfare editor Quinta Jurecic, who disapproved Facebook’s decision to have human editors run more ads as a cop-out, saying it should instead fix its cracked algorithms.

In his response, Stamos was mainly concerned with what he saw as attacks on Facebook for not doing enough to police wild misinformation spreading on the platform, saying journalists largely underestimate the difficulty of filtering content for the site’s billions of users and deride their employees as out-of-touch tech bros. He added the company should not become a “Ministry of Truth,” a reference to the dictatorial publicity bureau in George Orwell’s 1984.

Aadhaar Requires for Every Payment

The government has made biometric identification Aadhaar mandatory for all post office payments, PPF, the National Savings Certificate scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra. Existing depositors have been given time till December 31, 2017 to provide the 12-digit unique identification number. The Department of Finance has issued four separate Gazette notifications making Aadhaar mandatory for opening all post office deposit accounts, Public Provident Fund (PPF), National Savings Certificate scheme and Kisan Vikas Patra deposits.

"Provided that where Aadhaar number has not been assigned, the depositor shall submit proof of application of enrolment for Aadhaar," the notification dated September 29 said.

Existing depositors who have not provided Aadhaar number at the time of application for such deposit "shall submit his Aadhaar number to the post office savings bank or deposit office concerned, on or before December 31, 2017," it added.
